Discovery Boat Tours Popular in 2017

Another successful season of enjoying boat tours on Glen Lake has wrapped! Discovery Boat tours were fully booked for summer 2017, and held on five Fridays through July and into August. Tours were held twice a day, for a total of 10 sessions. One private session was held, with another private tour scheduled in September.

The consistently warm and clear summer weather led to no cancellations and reached almost 100 people, including many family and multi-generational groups. They gained insight into what makes Glen Lake special, from its formation by glaciers, to the many aquatic species within, and how government policy protects water quality. The groups were led by watershed biologist Rob Karner, of the GLA.

Karner wants to not only broaden people’s perspectives, he also wants people to know the lake well, like they know a friend.

“People always knew they liked Glen Lake, now they know why”, says Karner.

The tours made for a beautiful – and educational – way to spend a gorgeous summer day. Coming up for the Discovery Boat – a new capability for tour seekers to pre-register, beginning in May of 2018.
