Thank you to everyone who attended the GLA’s 2024 Annual Meeting! We hope you enjoyed celebrating our award recipients, receiving an update on the health of the watershed, and socializing with other members.
GLA President, Stan Kryder, kicked off the meeting by highlighting many of the successes from the past year. Our initiatives to fight invasive plant and animal species, promote membership, and further development efforts have been paying off! We’ve kept Eurasian watermilfoil at bay, reduced the Koi fish population, and exceeded our boat wash capital campaign goal of $1.25 million. As we close out the third and final year of this ambitious fundraiser, we once again extend our heartfelt thanks to the generous members and donors whose contributions to the boat wash endowment fund will surely leave a lasting legacy.
Next, we announced the winner of the 2024 Business Stewardship Award: Northwoods Hardware! This award recognized Northwoods’ commitment to preserving the Glen Lake/Crystal River Watershed by offering native plants for sale at their Glen Arbor location. Native plants are ideal for preserving natural shorelines and streambanks, which in turn protect the lakes and streams. In addition, Northwoods generously gives back a percentage of all native plant sales to the GLA. Thank you, Jeff and Georgia Gietzen, owners of Northwoods Hardware, for everything you do to support the GLA and the watershed!
Lastly, we welcomed two new members to the GLA Board of Directors. Ron Creten and Tamara Cutler, both of Little Glen Lake, have graciously agreed to serve a 3-year board term. You may read more about Ron and Tamara on our website at glenlakeassociation.org/member-voting.
If you couldn’t make this year’s Annual Meeting, we hope to see you at the next one!
