Boat Wash Operator (Seasonal)
Position Overview:
Play a vital part in protecting Glen Lake by preventing the spread of invasive species. This position is ideal for retirees, recent high school graduates, or college students looking for a meaningful seasonal opportunity in a beautiful outdoor setting. With a flexible part-time schedule, you will educate boaters, conduct boat washes, and contribute to the preservation of this valuable natural resource.
This non-exempt, seasonal position runs from May through October. It offers part-time hours (20-30 hours per week, three days per week), although additional hours may be available upon request.
Compensation: $20
Location: Little Glen Lake Boat Launch (7075 W. Day Forest Rd.)
Reports To: Boat Wash Senior Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and power-wash boats, trailers, and engines to prevent the spread of AIS.
- Engage with visitors in a friendly and professional manner, providing education on aquatic invasive species (AIS) and best practices.
- Accurately collect and document boater surveys and boat inspection, bait, creel, and AIS data.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area at the boat launch, following all safety regulations and uniform requirements.
- Report any equipment issues or safety concerns to the Boat Wash Senior Manager and notify law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, bending, and operating equipment, in various weather conditions such as heat, rain, and wind.
- Interest in environmental protection and water conservation is a plus, but no prior experience needed—we provide full training!
Work Environment:
This position requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions with some physical labor. Must be comfortable working around water and electricity while following safety protocols. Some holiday and weekend hours are required.
