Stan has been to Glen Lake every year since he was born. His family began coming to Glen Lake in 1957, originally vacationing at the old Maple Croft Resort in Burdickville, where they eventually purchased their own place. Stan has served on the GLA board since 2018 as a director, Treasurer, and now President.
Stan grew up in Ohio and graduated from Albion College and LSU-School of Banking. For 25 years, he worked for two of the nation’s largest banks before ultimately becoming a community banker. Stan successfully led his community bank through three mergers into a $47 billion, 6-state bank, now known as South State Bank.
When not “up at the Lake,” Stan and his wife Joy live in Atlanta, Georgia, where they are also active in the community. Stan and family especially enjoy volunteering for the GLA to help protect the lake and support the community. He says, “Glen Lake has always been a special place for me since I was a child. It’s a privilege to now share that special place with my own family. I hope that I can make even a small contribution to ensure it remains beautiful for generations to come.”
